Every time I’m asked about inspirations I talk about Pierre Cardin and Courrèges , Comme des Garçons and Katharine Hamnet.. those amazing photos by Nick Knight for Yohji Yamamoto, Chanel‘s suits, Yves Saint Laurent’s rebellious bourgeoisie and the incredible volumes of Balenciaga, and the shock to the system that was Martin Margiela .. but without doubt the biggest inspiration in my life have been these two .. long before I knew of any of the above names our friendship made me feel that
Fashion can be such a harsh profession to work in, and sometimes I need reminding why I’m actually doing this instead of sitting behind a desk in a bank somewhere ( my parent’s plans) or behind the counter in a bar on a beach somewhere sunny (my own).. but this morning coming across this photo I was thinking how one of the most wonderful aspects of this industry is the incredible people I get to meet, work with , exchange with.

Does it ever happen to you that you do something that you really like and that somehow falls completely flat ? 😆 I was so proud of this circle-zip neckline.. like the moon 🌙 in a starlit sky .. ( sorry getting carried away here hehe ) ..the simplicity of it, but at the same time surprising and just slightly strange .. but it just seemed to go over people’s heads , and we actually sold very little .. but looking at it now I still kinda like it , although I realise now that it might not have been so comfortable wearing that zip on your neck .. the embroidered splatters of gold paint weren’t bad 😊 and those people did like 😎
