“I think you can sell creativity, and you can make a lot of money with creativity. And also, you can lose a lot of money with something that is not creative at all. This whole discussion is old in a way. If you find the right people, you have the same goal, and you understand each other, then the sky is the limit.”

Interview of Lutz Huelle speaking about the state of the Fashion Industry and his work for his namesake brand as well as MaxMara and Brioni

I’ve always loved the idea of clothes as beautiful, timeless objects, to wear and collect and cherish for ever, and all our collections have been designed with this in mind – the diagonal opposite of ‘Fast Fashion’. Here are looks and ideas from the last 10 Collections, mixed and matched together: The Shawlbomber and Spiral Pleats, the Oversleeve Coat and the Dartsbomber.. so many pieces that have since become our classics and that I keep in the collection.. what are your personal favourites?

‘..the most exciting use is in a nylon bomber jacket, where Huelle cut off all the ribbing at the collar and hem, spliced it horizontally, and inserted a ribbon belt. It’s as elegant as an opera coat, but as durable as a piece of workwear. Other ingenious twists include wool Fair Isle cardigans with insertable nylon plackets (global warming has rendered big-wool-sweater season too short, thus the cardigan) and a halter top he cut from an old T-shirt, which he shows off how to make in his collection video.’ Steff Yotka on Lutz Huelle F/W 2021 on VOGUE RUNWAY
